River

  1. Sunlight on the river Sparkles as it flows along
A ribbon of silver flowing through the forest Singin’ the valley a song
And the setting sunlight through the trees Will turn that ribbon gold.
Any time the river’s flowing The wonders will unfold.

Chorus (A)    River… You’re old and young, born and dying, growing all of the time.
Your timeless flowing ways, I wish I could make them mine

Chorus (B)    Oh River… I could listen for hours, I could follow for days
I could take a lifetime to learn your flowing ways.

Chorus End   Oh River

  1. High in the mountains River’s like a playful child
Small, but growing, free and flowing, Reckless and Wild
Leapin’, flyin’, cascading down Trying to get free
Tearing down the mountains On a journey to the sea

(Chorus A + End)

Down in the lowlands River’s grown strong and wide
Rolling over a river be of gravel Carried from the mountain side
Graceful flowing power Meanders over the land
Singing out a peaceful song I still don’t understand.

(Chorus B + End)

  1. Moonlight on the river Sparkles as it flows on by
A Ribbon of diamonds flowing through the forest Shining back to the sky.
And I go down to the River…When I need its peaceful song
Sit and stare for hours As the river flows along

(Chorus A and B + End) repeat End to fade)
